The back story — I heard good things about Crash, I heard bad things about it. I hadn’t read anything about the movie’s story/plot except for a few points, so I didn’t know what to expect. Maybe it helps when you go see a movie that way.
Crash is a movie made with multiple characters whose paths cross each other at different times. The beauty of the movie is that it handles the topic of race and prejudices in a subtle way. The different stories are meshed together in such a way that the ride is smooth, no awkward bumps. Probably a testimony of the good editing as well.
Jon Stewart, the host of the Oscars, made a quip about the number of actors in Crash saying, ” Raise your hand if you were not in Crash.” Quite true. Crash has Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Terrence Howard, Thandi Newton, Ryan Phillippe, Brendan Fraser, among others.
I loved the movie and I can see why it won the Best Picture, even though I’ve not seen all the nominated movies. If you want to read a more in-depth review, go read the IMDB review of Crash.
