Police complaints on the web

I did know that there was a website for Bangalore’s police department but I’d never looked it up. It was on my ‘Someday’ list and as the CCR song goes, Someday Never Comes.

From the mule’s mouth :

Getting in touch with your Police Station is much easier now!

You can now submit your complaints of any kind – General, Law & Order, Crime, Traffic, Grievance or even complaints against Policemen.

Your personal details and complaint will be kept confidential.

The website also has an FAQ where you can get information about what to do in emergencies, how to get a gun license, to becoming a special police officer. It’s a decently laid out website and worth a look.

The traffic police’s list of To do and Not to Do is worth a read too.

  1. We had booked a holiday to Far East (HOLIDAY TO SINGAPORE, BANGKOK, KL) by paying full advance 4 months back with Orange holidays in Bangalore. When we wanted to go now on the trip (HOLIDAY TO SINGAPORE, BANGKOK, KL), they kept saying we will get confirmation since last 10 days. We applied for leave and got ready. Orange holidays said 3 days before schedule date of departure that they cant get confirmations on air ticket. Finally we demanded a full refund for which Orange holidays agreed. They have given us a cheque yesterday for the full amount of Rs 50,000 which has bounced. You can’t get anyone on the phone, they are always evasive. They only come out with full page advertisements to lure innocent people. This is to advise all fellow Indians and travelers not to trust these cheats. ORANGE HOLIDAYS AND THE WHOLE GROUP ORANGE PROPERTIES ORANGE RESORTS LOOK LIKE THEY ARE BIG CHEATS. BEWARE!

  2. Hope this incident happened to me help people to understand how Bangalore Traffic police is acting and eating big amount of money from people (ie Outsider) who are coming to Bangalore for Jobs.
My name is XXXXX working as Software Eng for a MNC. On the day 27 January 2009 time between 1:30 to 2:30 pm. I was passing through 80ft Ring road, Signal/Crossing Near Wipro Park, Koramangala 1st block. Four Traffic policeman (One was Inspector and other three Hawaldar and sub inspector) were stopping especially the bikers not car persons. And they were asking one or other documents, If any of the document is missing they asked for huge Fine. They stopped me also they ask for some document two of the document and money I missed at my office in bag. They took my mobile and ask me to get some money first then you will get your mobile back then I went home and brought Rs. 500/- . One the police man suddenly took that money and not given me legal receipt and they took all money Rs. 500/- in their pocket. I defended and ask to give receipt than they started threaten me to drown to court and police station.
What I can do.. Helpless … they took simply Rs. 500/- not for fine but for their own pocket. since they were ask for Rs.2000/- and I bargained to Rs. 500/- in the name of fine without any receipt.
Can any Karnataka government body do anything for those corrupted policeman. Is this a Bangalore Silicon valley of India. So Shame on those types of policeman.
