Too many repeats spoil the ad

Lately, the Vodafone music ad featuring the song “Kabhi Kabhi” has been on every channel every other minute. It’s not just this ad that’s repeated frequently; it’s other ads as well, in what is the latest in a continuing, irksome pattern.

Ads are necessary for companies to plug their products–I get that. If you beam an ad too frequently though, you run the risk of irritating people who may just blog about it or something. There is also something to be said for moderation.

The way to make consumers remember ads is to make them memorable. Stuffing ads down consumers throats may help in the short term, but they might not keep the ads down, if you know what I mean.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to watch some TV and more ad repeats.
